Nela Brown, a resident at Life Care Center of Colorado Springs, Colorado, celebrated her 100th birthday on May 29, 2015.
The facility hosted a party for her with music by the Dixie Duezers, a local senior band.
When she was asked her thoughts about turning 100, Brown said, “The card companies only make a few different types of cards for people who turn 100.”
She humorously added that she has six or seven copies of the same card.
Born in Seiling, Oklahoma, Brown grew up with a twin sister, Neva. Brown remembers always dressing alike, even when they went on vacations together with their husbands.
A devoted member of the Roswell Community Church in Colorado Springs, Brown was married to the pastor, Ora Burdue. A few years after he passed away, she married the new pastor of the church, Paul Brown.
Brown has one son, Arlen Brown, seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.
